NotTiled by Mirwanda Center offers a unique approach to digital design, blending creativity with functionality, but may have a steep learning curve for new users.

NotTiled is a free, open-source, and multi-platform tile map editor. It is based on the Tiled Map Editor by Thorbjørn Lindeijer.

What NotTiled offers:

Create/edit .tmx files on the go with support for lua/json/csv export.
Create custom maps for games that support .tmx maps such as Rusted Warfare.
Create pixel images/animations for games.
Create music using jfugue notation with support for midi export.
Create photo mosaics to showcase to friends.
Create 2D tabletop RPG map designs with exporting capabilities to PNG.
Create silly platformer/RPG-styled mini-games.
Create cross-stitch patterns from photos (why not?).
And much more, especially tasks that require tiling arrangements.
